Job Description: Benefits Specialist
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Benefits Specialist to join our Human Resources team. As a Benefits Specialist, you will play a crucial role in administering and managing employee benefits programs within our organization. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the efficient and accurate delivery of benefits to all employees, while maintaining compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Responsibilities:
1. Administer and manage employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, wellness programs, and other related benefits.
2. Coordinate the enrollment and termination process for employee benefit plans, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all transactions.
3. Serve as the main point of contact for employees regarding benefits-related inquiries and issues, offering exceptional customer service and resolving problems in a timely manner.
4. Collaborate with benefits vendors and brokers to negotiate contracts, resolve discrepancies, and ensure the effective delivery of benefits to employees.
5. Conduct regular audits and reviews of benefits programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and other relevant legislation.
6. Process and manage all benefits-related documentation, including enrollment forms, beneficiary designations, and claims forms, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
7. Coordinate with the payroll department to ensure accurate deductions and payments related to employee benefits.
8. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in benefits administration, recommending improvements and implementing changes to enhance the overall benefits program.
9. Assist in the development and delivery of benefits-related training programs to educate employees on available benefits, plan options, and enrollment procedures.
10. Collaborate with the HR team to support employee wellness initiatives, providing guidance on benefits-related aspects and promoting a positive work-life balance.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in benefits administration or a similar role, preferably in a fast-paced corporate environment.
3. Strong knowledge of employee benefits plans, regulations, and laws, including ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and ACA.
4. Excellent understanding of benefits enrollment processes, including eligibility requirements, plan options, and enrollment technology platforms.
5. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously within tight deadlines.
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve benefits-related issues effectively.
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with employees at all levels within the organization.
8. Proficient in using HRIS systems, benefits administration software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
9. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information with discretion.
10. Professional certification in benefits administration (e.g., Certified Employee Benefits Specialist, CEBS) is preferred.
